Friday I went to my previous work place – my new job is literally less than a five minutes walk away – for the first time in two months. It was a very familiar feeling to open the office doors and enter. I felt really comfortable doing that. It was like I never left.
I was given a visitor’s pass and had to wait to be escorted inside. It was great to be back, seeing all my friends and colleagues, talking and laughing. It felt good to be standing at my old desk, even though someone was already sitting in my chair.
I realized that I miss my friends, and it reinforced how much I actually like them. However, I have no love lost for my job. I was happy and comfortable in the office – I did not dislike the place, I just outgrew it. And that is perfectly OK.
